Dr Ian Maconochie FRCPCH FCEM PhD
Consultant in Paediatric Accident and Emergency Medicine St Mary's Hospital London
After qualifying from St Thomas' Medical School in 1984, Dr Maconochie pursued a career in paediatrics working as a junior doctor in St Thomas's Hospital, Kings College Hospital, West Lambeth Health Authority, Lewisham, and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children. Whilst at St Mary's Hospital he became the Senior Registrar and conducted research for which he was awarded a PhD.
Dr Maconochie was appointed the lead consultant in Paediatric Emergency Medicine at St Mary's Hospital, London in 2000. He has since published many papers and is deputy editor of the Emergency Medicine Journal. He is also commissioning editor and associate editor for the leading UK paediatric journal Archives of Diseases in Childhood and sits on the editorial advisory group for the British Medical Journal.
